A dear life long friend lives here in Phoenix not too far from me. Her father passed recently, and moved her mother from Oregon to Phoenix so she can look after her. Recently it was discovered her mother has a slipped disc and slight paralysis on her right side. Bottom line is it is difficult for her to walk and move around. I was looking after her the other day and realized she needed a walker, hello Amazon!
In the process of all this and assisting her up and down and to and from the bathroom, she said to me “thank you for encouraging me that I can do this.” See, I lived in the world of I cant for six months and what that taught me, is I needed to be my own cheerleader to push me forward in my life. I know exactly where she is mentally and how hard it is when our bodies betray us.
It is important to always try to empathize someones situation and there is always something to be grateful for no matter what! It brought me such joy to be able to encourage her and purchase a walker that I knew would make her situation all that much better. There are just some things we need to do and it is never about the money. When I brought her new bright shiny walker to her, you would have thought I brought her a brand new car! The smile on her face and the gratitude was priceless! That was literally the best 31$ I have recently spent..
My two takeaways from this experience, is it costs absolutely nothing to encourage and inspire someone, especially ourselves. To be kind and thoughtful to someone is just as powerful as if we did something nice for ourselves. It truly drives home the power of ONE yet once again!~Shirene
