This time of year for many brings stretched pocketbooks and anxiety of how they will pay to send their children back to school. Here are a few ways you can lesson the burden and at little to no cost!
My most favorite thing to do this time of year is stock up on school supplies. Not for my children who are grown, but for the teachers at our local schools. As soon as the school supplies hit the shelves at the market, I will grab extras and stock pile them. Just the other day I purchased 12 four-packs of glue sticks for $3, and 12 notebooks for $3! Teachers ALWAYS NEED extra school supplies! Once I have quite a collection of supplies, I then divide them into separate bags, seal the bags and attach a note that reads: “Dear Amazing Teacher- Thank you for all that you do to inspire and motivate our children of tomorrow on a daily basis! Please know that you are greatly appreciated in everything you do!!”
Many years ago, I received a substantial bonus. I decided to take 10 $20 bills, when I dropped my children at school, I went into the office and asked if I could please pay on 10 lunch accounts. The secretary, said there were two children that she was going to have to deny lunch to, as their accounts were way over drawn. Needless to say, I paid for those two and the other 10 children. Can I tell you, when you do something kind, especially for a child, oh my goodness! I walked out of the school literally feeling as if I was walking on air!
When my boys were small, I would also put little love notes in their back packs, lunch box and coat pockets. The notes would read something like this…….”Enjoy your day and I love you!” “You are so very smart and absolutely amazing.” Now those of you that have children, what if you were to write notes and put them in the coat pocket of their friends when they visit your house? I truly believe anything and everything we can do to put a smile on someones face is so very inspiring and uplifting. THINK ABOUT IT, A NOTE OF INSPIRATION COSTS YOU ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, AND CAN REALLY BRIGHTEN SOMEONES DAY!!
